Carbon Poker PLO & Wembley

coal_diamond I tried Carbon Poker for the first time last week and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the experience. Yes it’s full of Americans and yes it’s not exactly jammed with active tables but the rakeback is paid each night at midnight and the PLO at small-medium stakes is pretty soft. Give it a try if you’re looking for a new online room to play at. Use the link on the Poker News Headlines homepage to get the 30% rakeback deal.

Away from poker, I spent last Saturday at Wembley for the Challenge Cup final. What a great stadium and a fantastic day out. Naturally I got lost on the way to the parking I’d pre-booked despite the assistance of sat nav. In my defence the man in the box told me I’d arrived at my destination when I’d actually arrived at the destination of the housing estate of the school which were renting our parking spaces for the day. Have you tried asking a Londoner for directions? I didn’t think so. So I drove around a bit and eventually located the school via large SCHOOL signs which I ignored earlier. D’oh.

The match was great. Warrington took the lead after a minute and were never behind which makes for comfortable viewing. It was pretty emotional during ‘Abide with me’ and extremely emotional at the final whistle. Rugby league players aren’t superstars like footballers. With the exception of a handful of the top players, they live in normal suburbon houses and take home a normal salary every month. The ones I’ve met have always been very approachable, down to earth, nice fellas. It was fantastic to see them celebrating with the fans at the end of the game. I just can’t imagine Rooney and Berbatov having a laugh and a, sensible, drink with United fans after the game. That’s why I love rugby league so much. That and the fact it’s played by real men not overpaid, diving, leg shaving, pussies!
